In The Game
Blog Post #7
Hello and welcome to blog post #7.
My head hasn’t stopped spinning! I can’t get last week’s thoughts out of my head.
My intention this week was to listen to ‘The Millionaire Fastlane’ by DJ Marco and I made a start to the 12 hours, 46 minutes Audible recording, but during the week I became much more inquisitive about my comments in last week’s post about making money on the internet and generating a, so called, passive income. I say so called, because I don’t know of anything that is completely passive. Most ventures will require some degree of work, but I get the gist. If I can create something once that generates an income from a wider audience over a longer period of time, rather than trading my time for money, then I have created a passive income.
I started searching Audible for books with millionaire in the title and stumbled across two that I was able to download for free as part of my monthly Audible subscription. I mentioned last week that my subscription with Audible gives me one credit a month to buy a book. What I didn’t mention is that my subscription also allows me access to a number of free books and podcasts. Once you have downloaded them, you keep them, even if you cancel your subscription. If you follow this affiliate link, you should be offered a 30 day free trial. 😉
I downloaded two free books this week, ‘The Laptop Millionaire’ by Mark Anastasi and ‘Million Dollar Habits’ by Brian Tracy
‘The Laptop Millionaire’ was released in May 2012, so some of the ideas and suggestions will probably be outdated, but I’m sure I will take something away from the nine hours recording. The second book, ‘Million Dollar Habits’ was released in September 2020 and has a rating of 4.7 on Amazon from 865 reviews.
So that’s it. I’ve made up my mind. I started writing this blog with the intention of sharing my thoughts on life and leaving some form of digital legacy for my family and, although I will continue to write this blog and share my life’s journey with you, at the same time, I will also be sharing my journey of trying to build an online sales and marketing presence to become a ‘Laptop Millionaire’.
So, let’s get the clock ticking. The bank account is opened and I’ve named it ‘Laptop Millionaire’. I intend to share it with you on a regular basis and update you on where the funds come from. Here it is, my bank balance, with a starting balance of……
From zero to one million is going to take some doing. It’s a massive task and could feel overwhelming but I’m taking comfort from the information in the book ‘Atomic Habits’ by James Clear. How small consistent habits can make a big difference. How tiny changes can have remarkable results.
I started to think about the jump from zero to one million in a completely difference way. I started to breakdown the numbers which would make the jump more manageable and achievable. I started to consider the number of people on the internet. My potential audience and the amount of money needed from one person to generate one million.
Here are some of my figures.:
There are over five billion internet users worldwide.
There are around 1.5 billion English speaking internet users.
There are around 311 million internet users in the USA.
There are around 60 million users in the UK.
I would only need to provide a £1 product or service to one million users.
I would only need to provide a £5 product or service to 200,000 users.
I would only need to provide a £10 product or service to £100,000 users.
I would only need 42,000 users to pay a £2 monthly subscription for one year.
I would only need 1% of the internet users in the UK to pay £1.67 for a product or service.
I would only need 1% of the internet users in the USA to pay 32 cents for a product or service.
When you break down the figures, it doesn’t seem too excessive or difficult. It seems achievable.
It would be great if you could show your support. I’m not asking for any money, just provide some encouragement with a like, share or subscription or maybe you could follow my social media accounts. 👍

My Thought's This Week
Whatever angle you look at it, becoming a ‘Laptop Millionaire’ is not going to be an easy task. It will require a lot of work, dedication, and consistency. My blog was launched in November 2023, and this is now my seventh blog post. Every post has had several affiliate links to Audible with the books I am reading and recommending. What do I have to show for it? Not one single sale! 🤔
I could pursue this dream and end up with nothing. Fall flat on my face with nothing to show for all my hard work and determination. Time will tell, but what I do know is that I will have tried.
My son plays football (soccer, if you’re in the USA) and whenever the game came down to penalties he never seemed to walk up and take one. I asked him about this, and he would say something like “I was going to be the next one” or “I put my hand up, but I wasn't chosen’. This happened a few times until eventually I told him to be more assertive and take a penalty. I told him he needed to be in the game, influencing the game and taking memories away from the game. I told him it wasn’t about scoring or missing. It was about being in the game. In the future he might regret not taking the penalty, not having the memories, experience and euphoria of scoring the penalty to win the game or likewise the disappointment, and frustration of missing. Either way he should strive to experience those emotions whilst he can. He does not want to sit back after his playing days are over thinking to himself, “What if I had taken that penalty?” or “I wish I had taken that penalty”. I told him, the most important thing is to be, at the time, in the present, in the game!
So yes, I could, may and quite possible will fail at becoming a ‘Laptop Millionaire’ but, when the time comes and I decide that enough is enough, I will be able to sit back with no excuses, no doubts, no 'what if' or 'if only'. There will be no ‘if’s’ or ‘buts’. I will be able to put my hand on my heart and say “I tried”, “I did my best”, “I gave it a go”, “I was in the game”!
So, if you want to become a ‘Laptop Millionaire’ or you have other dreams, aspirations and desires, just give it a go. Start now. There will be mistakes. You may fail, but you will fail in the knowledge that you tried. You were in the game, which sometimes is more important than the outcome.
Whilst you're in the game there’s always a chance!
Finally, here’s this week's dad joke.......
Dad Joke #3
Why don’t crabs share their food? - Because they’re shellfish! 🤣
Have a great week and get in the game! 😊
Until next time,
